Pregnancy intake of VitaDHA Plus

Good morning. I am 20 weeks pregnant. My gynecologist recommended that I take Omega-3s. Following the Zone diet I took them for a long time and then stopped. I already take folic acid in a mineral and vitamin supplement. I would like to take your VitaDHA Plus, but the dosage is really high. What to do? Can I take it less times a week instead of every day?

Dear Alberta,

Our product line includes a supplement specifically for the pregnancy and lactation period: VitaDHA Materna.

It is a rich source of DHA (250 milligrams) with very high purity and digestibility as well as L-methylfolate (400 micrograms), an easily absorbed form of folic acid. VitaDHA Materna can be recommended from the 3rd month of pregnancy through the 6th month of breastfeeding: the daily dose is 1 pearl per day just before a main meal. If you wish, in accordance with your gynecologist's advice, you can take VitaDHA Materna together with your folic acid supplement, because the recommended dose of folic acid for pregnancy is up to 800 micrograms (the minimum dosage is 400 micrograms).

In the last trimester of pregnancy, the need for DHA increases considerably.I recommend taking VitaDHA liquid in single-dose sachets, which ensures an exceptional intake of 1250 milligrams of DHA per dose. At this particular stage of a woman's life, experts recommend taking at least 500 milligrams of DHA per day. If she wants, she can take 1 sachet every other day so that she takes an average of 625 milligrams of DHA per day. The oil (just over 3 milligrams) can be taken alone or added to yogurt, white or citrus. To avoid any possible aftertaste, it is best to store the sachets in the freezer. I recommend that you continue supplementation with VitaDHA at least until the sixth month after delivery. If you will be breastfeeding your baby, I recommend that you continue with supplementation as long as breastfeeding lasts, because the infant's brain accumulates DHA intensively until 18 to 24 months after birth.

Always consult your gynecologist for all dietary arrangements (diets, food supplements, etc.) that you will be planning to adopt. I remain at your disposal for any other questions on this matter.

Best Regards and Best Wishes!
