How do you take omega-3s?

When to take omega-3s? Before or after meals? Morning or evening? After how long does Omega-3 take effect?

The most common questions our clients ask us are about just the perfect timing for taking these valuable essential fatty acids.

We anticipate the good news right away: there are no hard-and-fast rules, but some tricks can help you optimize absorption.

Is it better to take Omega-3s on a full or empty stomach?
Preferably, full. In general, we recommend taking Omega-3s during meals that contain a good source of fat. This is because:

  • fats help the absorption of Omega-3s;
  • you reduce the risk of possible digestive disorders (affecting only 0.1 and 1 percent of those who take them);
  • you avoid ending up with a fishy aftertaste in your mouth, a sensation that may not be welcome.

When to take Omega-3s: morning or evening?
There is no rule. The only case in which evening intake, during or after dinner, is recommended is if you are taking Omega-3s within supplements designed to control cholesterol, such as Cardiol® Forte

In all other cases, the choice is autonomous because the effect of Omega-3 (and here we also answer the question "After how long does Omega-3 take effect?") is not immediate, but long-term.

So the important thing is to choose a time of day that allows you to establish your own routine. Because what makes the difference is precisely continuity: to appreciate the effect, you need to take them regularly for at least 2-3 months-this time period is only indicative and can vary according to each person's needs and the doctor's instructions.

Integrate wellness into your life: create your own Omega-3 routine.
