Oppositional behavior and difficulties in school. What supplement for a child?
Good morning, I would like to have Omega 3 and 6 supplementation done for my 6-year-old daughter. We are having a specialist evaluation done to see if there are any weaknesses behind the attitude and difficulties she is experiencing at the 'beginning of elementary school (she shows to be very oppositional towards school activities ) From observations already made in the past by a psychotherapist, she does not seem to be a hyperactive child, while at times she seems to manifest difficulties in holding attention. However, the child manages to spend several times on a game that interests her, organizing her games, finishing puzzles, building with bricks following instructions, following the thread of very long stories that are read to her. I would like to support her with supplementation also because from a dietary point of view the child has some shortcomings (in particular she detests fish and I can only get her to eat it in the form of frozen sticks). I would like, if possible, to have your suggestion. Thank you
Dear Anna Rita,
Children with attention deficit or behavioral disorders often benefit from the consumption of DHA, an omega-3 found in high concentrations in the membranes of neurons and which has important functions in the nervous system and retina. DHA helps maintain normal brain and visual function, with a daily intake of at least 250 milligrams.
I recommend, if the pediatrician or specialist following your child agrees, supplementation with the product VitaDHA. It is a dietary supplement with high amounts of omega-3; each vial, contains as much as 1450 milligrams of DHA and 330 milligrams of EPA. The product is based on deodorized fish oil and flavored with lemon, which is particularly suitable for children as it has a neutral and pleasant taste. I remind you, however, that dietary supplements are not a therapy, but should be understood as nutritional support.
Sincerely,
