Can Cardiol Forte replace Omegor Vitality 1000?

Dear Marilena,

as you correctly noted omega-3 fatty acids are able to normalize mainly blood triglyceride values while they do not exert significant control over total and LDL cholesterol levels. The product Cardiol Forte is not an alternative to Omegor Vitality as it does not contain only omega-3 rich fish oil but rather a complex formulation specifically designed to control cholesterol levels

The main component of Cardiol Forte is fermented red rice, which is a source of a natural statin called monacolin K. Each capsule of Cardiol Forte provides 10 mg of monacolin k. Taking Cardiol Forte may be useful to you only if your treating physician wants to replace the 10mg ezetimibe you currently take for cholesterol control with a nutraceutical product such as Cardiol Forte.

These are clearly assessments that only your doctor can make. Regarding the gastrointestinal discomfort you observe with taking multiple capsules of Omegor Vitality, may I suggest that you always take the capsules together with a meal such as breakfast, lunch, or dinner to try to reduce this discomfort. Generally discomfort such as diarrhea occurs only in the early days of fish oil supplementation, as does avvieAne with all edible oils if consumed in larger than usual doses

Such gastrointestinal symptoms tend to resolve quickly as soon as the intestines become accustomed to this type of intake. I remain available for further information.

Sincerely, Rosaria Ramondino Pharmacist and Pharmaceutical Chemist.
