Sucralose in supplements for children: is it safe?

Good evening, I am looking for an omega-3 supplement for my 10-year-old daughter. Chewable Omegor Kids is in a form suitable for children and I would not struggle to give it to her. However, I am not convinced by the use of sucralose. I ask if a liquid product without sucralose is available.

Dear Francesca,

Sucralose is an artificial sweetener derived from sucrose. It is a molecule 650 times sweeter than sugar and is used as a sweetener in many foods and beverages. The WHO (World Health Organization-World Health Organization) establishes as an acceptable daily intake of sucralose 15 mg/kg body weight.

In addition, according to EFSA (European Food Safety Authority), the sweetener sucralose (E955) is safe. Evaluations of scientific data confirm the safety of the sweetener even for children and pregnant and lactating women, below is the link for more information: Omegor Kids chewable capsules contain about 0.6 mg/capsule of sucralose. The recommended dose is 1-2 capsules per day, corresponding to a maximum of about 1.2 mg per day of sucralose.

Very low levels and acceptable even in case your daughter takes sucralose from other food sources. This is so that we can explain to her the value and care of safety in our products. In any case, if she prefers a product without sucralose and in liquid form, she can evaluate Omegor Kids syrup, a supplement of omega-3 DHA and EPA of plant origin extracted from seaweed and enriched with vitamins C and D3 in a tasty liquid emulsion of orange-flavored honey, dedicated to supporting the growth of the child.

We are available for further information.
