Ask the Pharmacist

Is Cardiol Forte's red rice pure from contaminants?

Does cardiol forte contain citrinin? Thank you, a greeting FB

Good morning,

First, I can assure you that Cardiol Forte, made from fermented red rice, does not contain citrinin. Citrinin is a mycotoxin produced by certain yeasts in the genera Aspergilllus, Monascus, etc. In fact, because the ingredient fermented red rice is obtained by fermenting common rice (Oryza sativa) with Monascus purpureus (red yeast), citrinin could be found in some raw materials as a contaminant

But the fermented red rice we use as raw material in the production of Cardiol Forte is carefully selected and is citrinin-free, as is the finished Cardiol Forte product. I remain available for further information.

Sincerely,

Dr. Rosaria Ramondino Pharmacist and pharmaceutical chemist
