High cholesterol and triglycerides, better Meaquor or Cardiol Forte?
Good morning Dr., I am sending you the following to get some advice on omegor products. Thanking you in advance for your response, I premise that my doctor is unfortunately not familiar with your products, and this prompted me to write to you considering the discussions I have read on the web. I am 1.72 cm tall, weigh 79 kg, I am 53 years old, I am an entrepreneur and for a year and two months NOT a smoker anymore (although still today I am not convinced that I want to quit for good and I continue to chew 6/8 nicorrette gum). THE stressful job especially on a psychological level, and a bit of sedentariness (office work about 11/12 hours) have led me to have some "problems" in the last 10 years (primarily high triglycerides and cholesterol, hypertension). Perhaps heredity is also part of it, considering that my mother even today at 78 years old has the same problems. Stress, cholesterol then always at about 220/260 and triglycerides always over 300, plus a daily minimum blood pressure always over 90/95, about 3 years ago also caused me to have an episode of "suspected TIA" as well. Basically for a few hours I went into a state of confusion.... At that time for three months the doctor prescribed me seacor, varstat, cardioaspirin and doxafin. By the end of the course of treatment, my cholesterol and triglyceride levels had lowered, while my high blood pressure (the minimum) only found a solution about 4 months ago, thanks to a drug that was finally apt (at least I hope) called ratipred. For C. and T., after that period, considering the contraindications that drugs entail in the long run, my doctor approached me about supplements. So I have been taking for more than two years (I have never stopped) 1 tablet of "colecrill" (pharmaluce) in the morning and two tablets (one at lunch and one at dinner) of "omega3 cardio" (VITI). The cholesterol levels actually to date have lowered but relatively little those of triglycerides, below I highlight the latest reports (six-monthly analysis of the last two years): TOTAL cholesterol 222 186 197 161 HDL cholesterol 38 36 38 31 LDL cholesterol 163 145 140 104 triglycerides 297 239 225 326 I ask you then, which Vs products are most suitable for the above problems, the dosage and also the duration/periodicity of treatment. Vs Vitality seems great but I read your reply (similar problem) where you recommended cardiol and meaquor 1000. P.s.: Apart from Vitality, is the fish oil in your other products always certified? THANKS AGAIN.
Dear,
Based on the values you reported for Total Cholesterol, LDL and HDL cholesterol, and triglycerides, my advice is to evaluate with your treating physician the possibility of using in combination the products Cardiol Forte and Meaquor 1000.Cardiol Forte is a dietary supplement containing omega-3 EPA and DHA from fish oil and Fermented Red Rice, a source of a natural statin, monacolin K, which contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels.
Each capsule of Cardiol Forte provides 10 mg of monacolin K. Cardiol Forte also contains polyphenol hydroxytyrosol, found in olive fruit, and a high dosage (100 mg/cps) of Coenzyme Q10, which serves to make up for the deficiency of this antioxidant that may occur during treatment with statins or statin-like drugs. The recommended dose for Cardiol Forte is 1 capsule per day to be taken in the evening near dinner for a period of at least 2 months, after which routine tests should be repeated to verify the effectiveness of the supplementation. As for triglycerides, values can be kept in check with 2 grams per day of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids, which help maintain blood triglyceride levels.
The reason why, in some responses, I recommended the product Meaquor 1000 rather than Omegor Vitality is related to the concentration of the two products and thus the per capsule intake of EPA and DHA. Among the products in our line, Meaquor 1000 is the one with the highest concentration in EPA and DHA. Thanks to its high dosage, Meaquor 1000 allows it to reach the dosage of 2 g per day of EPA+DHA that are recommended for triglyceride control.
Omegor Vitality instead contains 630 mg EPA+DHA per capsule. Both products however are IFOS 5-star certified for purity, concentration and freshness on all production batches so they provide the same quality assurance. On the pages below you can find descriptions of the two products and links to the IFOS certificates of the batches on the market.
To allow the improvement of your HDL levels, which from the values indicated are quite low, I recommend that you continue to abstain from smoking and engage in moderate daily physical activity such as brisk walking for at least 30 minutes a day. On the basis of the above, I invite you to check with your doctor about the possibility of taking 1 capsule per day of Cardiol Forte in the evening and 2 capsules per day of Meaquor 1000, at a main meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
Sincerely,
Rosaria Ramondino Pharmacist and Pharmaceutical Chemist
