Ask the Pharmacist

Which omega-3 in case of premenstrual syndrome in a bordeline subject?

Good evening, I wanted to know which supplement would be most suitable for a 27-year-old girl diagnosed as a "borderline" subject with anxiety, depression and self-injurious behavior, also suffering from menstrual syndrome. She is already being treated with antidepressant, rivoltril and alprazig. Only omega 3 or also omega 6? Thanks!

Dear Violet,

Many scientific studies point to the positive effect of omega-3 fatty acid supplementation in mood disorders, anxiety and depression as they are able to regulate the production of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin, and promote mood balance, calmness and coordination. Taking PMS into consideration as well, the most useful product is. Omegor Twinefa a supplement of omega-3 fats EPA and DHA from fish oil and omega-6 GLA from borage oil

The minimum dosage of omega-3 EPA and DHA considered in studies that have evaluated their effect on anxiety and depression is at least 1 gram per day attainable with 2 capsules of Omegor Twinefa, to be taken close to a meal. This dosage is also useful to counteract the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome.

It is important that this dietary supplementation be undertaken in consultation with the treating physician , who should always be informed of any intended supplementation, especially in conjunction with drug therapy.
