Ask the Pharmacist

I suffer from guttate psoriasis, can Omega-3s be helpful in treating this condition?

I suffer from full-body gutted psoriasis and have tried them all. I was told that I could find considerable benefit from taking Omega-3. They told me about 6 grams a day. Is that the case?

Dear Alexander,

psoriasis a disease with an inflammatory character: therefore, oral intake of Omega-3 and Omega-6 GLA (gamma-linolenic acid), which possess marked anti-inflammatory activity, is recommended.

The action of these fatty acids allows the levels of proinflammatory eicosanoids (hormone-acting molecules that regulate the inflammatory response) to be reduced in favor of milder-acting ones. This leads to:

  • A progressive decrease in the inflammatory response;
  • gradual improvement.

I recommend that you try Omegor Twinefa, a synergistic formulation of omega-3 (EPA and DHA) and omega-6 (GLA). The recommended dosage of Omega-3 for psoriasis can be up to 6 grams, but my advice is to start with 3-4 pearls of Omegor Twinefa for about 2 months.

After this period, you may consider with your doctor the possibility of increasing the dosage up to 6 pearls. Each pearl of Omegor Twinefa provides 600 milligrams of EPA+DHA in the form of re-esterified triglyceride, which is absorbed 70% more than the ethyl esters, form of the other Omega-3 supplements on the market.

As a result, even just 3 pearls ensure a daily supplementation of 3 grams of EPA and DHA. Omegor Twinefa pearls should be taken before a main meal, in a single serving or even at different times of the day. If you have difficulty swallowing, you can puncture the pearls and take the oil individually because it is deodorized and orange flavored. Thank you for contacting us and I remain available for further questions.

Sincerely,
