Are Omega-3s useful in chronic lumbar discopathy?

I am 40 years old and suffer from chronic lumbar discopathy, with severe pain that forces me to take Voltaren almost daily. Could taking these supplements also benefit my nagging problem? If so, which ones?

Dear Barbara,

Painful afflictions can find benefit with the use of:

  • Omega-3 EPA (eicosapentenoic acid)
  • Omega-3 DHA (docosahexenoic acid);
  • Omega-6 GLA (gamma-linolenic acid).

These fatty acids negatively affect the production of the chemical mediators of pain (pro-inflammatory eicosanoids) in favor instead of other substances with anti-inflammatory and inflammation-resolving actions.

In your case, theOmega-3/Omega-6 association might be useful for:

  • Relieve the chronic pain associated with his condition;
  • Try to reduce the use of NSAIDs, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as Voltaren.

Therefore, the most suitable product in her case is Omegor Twinefa, a synergistic formulation obtained from the combination of deodorized fish oil high in EPA-DHA (min. 60%) and borage oil (a natural source rich in GLA). The recommended dosage is 1 to 3 pearls daily, to be taken before meals for at least 2 months, the time needed to experience the effectiveness of the supplementation.

I invite you to contact us again and remain available for further questions.

Sincerely,
