Ask the Pharmacist

Are Eskim and Meaquor really the same?

Good morning, I take 2 capsules of eskim 1000 daily, I had a heart attack 4 years ago, since a couple of months I have been paying for it, I would like to know if your product is equal in all respects to the medication I take. Sorry for the question but before I change medication I want to be sure ,I take it for a serious reason not for line related issues. Since I have been taking eskim my blood values have normalized I don't want to make a mistake. Thank you in advance for your time.

Dear Antimo,

I premise that Eskim 1000, as well as Seacor and Esapent, are drugs, while Meaquor is a dietary supplement. Their scope, therefore, is quite distinct. In accordance with the advice of your treating physician, due to its omega-3 EPA and DHA content, you may use Meaquor product in the following cases:

  • for maintaining normal blood triglyceride levels with the intake of 2,000 mg of EPA and DHA per day - 2 Meaquor capsules provide 1,800mg.
  • for the maintenance of normal blood pressure with daily intake of 3,000 mg of EPA + DHA - 3 capsules of Meaquor approve 2700mg.
  • to maintain normal heart function with a daily intake of 250 mg of EPA + DHA - 1 capsule of Meaquor provides 900mg.
  • to maintain physiological brain and visual function with a daily intake of 250 mg of DHA -- 1 capsule of Meaquor provides about 400mg, more than enough .

Meaquor is designed as a supplement with a high concentration of omega-3 fatty acids (900 mg of EPA and DHA per capsule) useful when it is not possible to get enough from the diet.Regarding the quality of Meaquor, I can assure you that it is produced from ultra-purified pharmaceutical-grade fish oil concentrated by multiple molecular distillation to ensure the almost complete absence of pollutants while at the same time a high concentration in omega-3 EPA and DHA.

Our company uses only fish oils of certified purity, and all product batches conform to and exceed the rigorous standards of GOED (Global Organization on EPA and DHA) of which we are a member, the same IFOS standards. You can find more information and certificates of analysis of the latest batches at this link. I also give you a table with typical values of heavy metals in Meaquor batches compared to the limits set by the European Commission and IFOS and CRN/GOED standards.
