Ask the Pharmacist

Is an Omega-3 supplement similar to Eskim 1000 available?

Dear Michele,

I thank you for writing to us. Although you did not specify the name of the supplement in the email, I believe your question refers to our dietary supplement Meaquor.

Meaquor's composition consists of a soft gelatin capsule of highly purified and concentrated fish oil with an Omega-3 fatty acid EPA and DHA contentof 900mg/capsule.

Omega-3s are present in the form of ethyl esters (EE). The amount is 500 mg of EPA and 400 mg of DHA per capsule-the highest concentration per capsule on the market for an Omega-3 fatty acid supplement. Each package contains 30 capsules and costs 15.90 euros.

Although Meaquor seems similar in composition, it should be clarified at the outset that Eskim is a drug, while Meaquor is a dietary supplement. Therefore, their scope of application is quite distinct: the drug finds use in the treatment and prevention of diseases, while the supplement has exclusively nutritional and physiological effects to promote the regular performance of the body's functions. In accordance with the advice of your treating physician, due to its omega-3 EPA and DHA content, you may use Meaquor product in the following cases:

  • for maintaining normal blood triglyceride levels with the intake of 2,000 mg of EPA and DHA per day - 2 Meaquor capsules provide 1,800mg.
  • for the maintenance of normal blood pressure with daily intake of 3,000 mg of EPA + DHA - 3 capsules of Meaquor approve 2700mg.
  • to maintain normal heart function with a daily intake of 250 mg of EPA + DHA - 1 capsule of Meaquor provides 900mg.
  • to maintain physiological brain and visual function with a daily intake of 250 mg of DHA -- 1 capsule of Meaquor provides about 400mg, more than enough .

I remain available for further questions and greet you cordially.
