Ask the Pharmacist

Cholesterol, I've improved. Do I continue with Cardiol Forte?

Good morning, I am 50 years old, I have been taking cardiol forte for about 5 months without interruption with appropriate diet and moderate aerobic type of physical activity, the lipid picture is as follows: total cholesterol 216 (275 start of supplementation) Ldl 149 (193 start of supplementation) Hdl 50 (46 start of supplementation) triglycerides 87 (178 start of supplementation). should I discontinue the supplementation or can I continue without any problems? thanks

Dear Sir,

cholesterol isproduced by our body on an ongoing basis, which is why it is recommended not to stop supplementing with Cardiol Forte, otherwise cholesterol would rise again.

Cholesterol, why Cardiol Forte?

I am pleased with the improvements you have observed in your cholesterol profile. Cardiol Forte is a dietary supplement that contains a high intake of Monacolin K: the natural statin from fermented red rice (10 mg/cps) that has been shown:

  • To aid in the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels
  • has also shown a good tolerability profile. In fact, the product is generally well tolerated even by subjects intolerant to treatment with synthetic statins.

In addition, in the formulation of Cardiol Forte we tried to minimize possible side effects typical of statin treatment-such as limb myopathy, i.e., muscle pain-through a high intake of Coenzyme Q10 (100 mg/cps).

  • Indeed, in those who are being treated with statins for cholesterol control, deficiency of this antioxidant is common.
  • Therefore, in the presence of statin treatment, supplementation with Coenzyme Q10 becomes essential to prevent myopathy or aggravation of this condition related to statin use.

I remain available for further information.
