Cardiol and Cardiol Forte: what is the difference?
Dear Sirs, I take omega 3 in the dosage of 1 1000 mg capsule daily for cholesterol control. I wanted to go alongside this also with your product Cardiol but I saw that now there is also the new formula Cardiol Forte. What is the difference between the two? What do you recommend? Thank you
Dear Marco,
the two products Cardiol and Cardiol Forte were both formulated to help maintain normal blood cholesterol levels but are recommended in different situations.
- In cases of border-line cholesterol with values above 200 mg/dL and up to 239 mg/dL, the most suitable product is definitely Cardiol, which contains omega-3, plant extracts such as fermented red rice source of monacolin K (3mg/cps) to act on normalization of blood cholesterol levels, plus polycosanols, Citrus bioflavonoids and B vitamins.
- In case of higher blood values (>240 mg/dL) it is advisable to opt for the product Cardiol Forte which has a higher dosage in monacolin K (10 mg/cps) the natural statin useful for maintaining normal blood cholesterol levels.
Cardiol Forte is then enriched with hydroxytyrosol, a polyphenol from the olive tree, and natural Vitamin E to protect blood lipids and cells from oxidative stress and with high-dose Coenzyme Q10 (100 mg/cps) to make up for the deficiency that occurs during treatment with statins or statin-like drugs.
For both products, the dosage is one pearl per day to be taken in the evening before dinner for a period of at least two months in conjunction with a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. After the two months of supplementation have elapsed, it is best to repeat the tests to check the effectiveness of the treatment.
It is important that the supplementation is done in accordance with the advice of the treating physician so I invite you to consider with him the possibility of taking either product.I remain available for further information.
Sincerely,
Dr. Rosaria Ramondino Pharmacist and Pharmaceutical Chemist
