Ask the Pharmacist

Thinning hair, are omega-3s effective?

My goal is to improve the appearance of my thin, volume-deficient hair. I am 46 years old, 5'6" tall and weigh 45 kg. I am very careful about my diet, lead a very sedentary life,lately I have an irregular and scanty cycle with very dark discharge. Menopause? I am concerned about my hair. What to take between twinefa, vitality, antiage and krill? Can they be combined and in what way?

Dear Madam,

to improve the appearance of your hair and why not the well-being of your skin, the 'association I suggest is between Omegor Vitality and Omegor Antiage products at a daily dosage of:

  • 1-2 capsules per day of Omegor Vitality 1000 with meals;
  • 1 capsule of Omegor Antiage.

This combination will allow you to achieve a good daily intake of Omega-3 EPA and DHA and to be able to benefit from the active antioxidants in the formulation of Omegor Antiage-which can support you in your goal of restoring hair health and tone. Omegor Antiage is a dietary supplement containing omega-3, omega-6 from borage oil plus resveratrol, curcumin, alpha lipoic acid, coenzymeQ10 and tocotrienols. This formulation balances the benefits of omega-3/6 with a good dose of antioxidants, which can potentially:

  • Help counteract the formation of free radicals and oxidative processes;
  • Promote trophism, i.e., tone, body and hydration, and the physiological function of the skin and skin adnexa, such as precisely the hair.

The recommended dose is 1 pearl per day, taken before a meal for a period of at least 2 months. As for your last question, which is whether the health of your hair may be in some way an indicator of the coming of menopause, I have one last piece of advice.

The combination omega-3 and gamma-linolenic acid GLA from borage oil, also found in Omegor Antiage, could promote good mood and potentially may prove useful in the delicate periods of pre-menopause and menopause, including in reducing hot flashes.

I remain available for further information.

Sincerely,

Rosaria Ramondino, Pharmacist and pharmaceutical chemist.
