Ask the Pharmacist

Is the dose of folic acid in VitaDHA Materna sufficient for the first trimester of pregnancy?

Dear Catherine,

the dose of folic acid recommended for pregnancy is 0.4 milligrams (400 micrograms), an amount found in one capsule of Maternal VitaDHA.

Therefore, it may be sufficient throughout pregnancy, but sometimes some specialists choose to use higher dosages such as those found in medicines like Folin.

The only advice I can give you is to continue taking Folina until you see your gynecologist again and then decide with him whether to continue treatment, discontinue it, or use Maternal VitaDHA.

 Sincerely,

Dr. Rosaria Ramondino
