Ask the Pharmacist

What is the correct dose to take of Omegor Krill and why are there no capsules with higher doses of Krill oil?

Good morning, I am a 25-year-old guy and I play sports. I regularly take Omegor Vitality up to six tablets a day and I am doing well. I wanted to try Omegor Krill and I would like to know the more or less correct dose to take because in the nutritional table I see that the concentrations of EPA and DHA are much lower per pearl than the other product. I don't know how to adjust. Last thing, why not make Omegor Krill capsules with more massive doses per pearl? I am waiting to hear from you if possible. Best regards and good work!

Dear Luca,
the Omegor Krill product has omega-3 fatty acids bound to phospholipids in an entirely different structure than the forms normally found in fish oils. This peculiar structure makes the omega-3 in Krill very absorbable by our bodies and therefore effective at lower dosages.

If you practice a sport that requires high concentration and nervous reactivity then the product Omegor Krill is best suited to your case because at a dose of 2 capsules per day it allows you to achieve significant effects on the state of psychophysical fitness.

The omega-3 in phospholipid form found in Krill oil selectively accumulates at the level of the nervous system and red blood cell membranes, plus this oil naturally contains the antioxidant astaxanthin.

I recommend that you take the two capsules of Omegor Krill close to a meal and preferably in the first part of the day. Regarding the recommended daily dosage, it is not possible for us to increase the amount of oil per capsule or per serving because in Europe Krill oil is classified with "novel food" status, that is, as a new food ingredient considered to be of uncommon use.

This novel food status means that the characteristics of krill oil starting from the way the extract is obtained to the omega-3 EPA and DHA concentrations that can be achieved are regulated in Europe by a European Commission Decision of October 12, 2009 (Decision 2009/752/EC). The maximum intake of EPA+DHA from krill oil approved by the European Commission for the food supplement category was initially 200 mg of EPA+DHA while in late 2012 it was increased to 250 mg.

2 capsules per day of the Omegor Krill product contain 1 g of krill oil and allow you to reach your daily intake of 200 mg of EPA+DHA. I hope I have answered your question and invite you to contact us again for more information.

Sincerely,
