My daughter is 4 months old: can she take Omega-3?

My daughter is 4 months old. Her 5 daily meals consist of Mellin 1 Soy milk powder (we noticed that she had some lactose intolerance). Given the well-being I receive from taking Omega-3, I am asking if you can start my daughter taking the precious oil as well. I cannot find any news regarding the intake of Omega-3 by infants, nor do I know the dosage, if any: can you kindly answer me?

Dear Pierangelo,

I would point out to her that the first 4-6 months of an individual's life are characterized by very rapid growth, particularly of the brain.

Sixty percent of the brain is made up of fats, including Omega-3s, which our bodies are unable to produce on their own. The results of studies on this subject show that an intake of essential fatty acids in pregnancy and the first few months of life can promote the infant's mental and visual developments. The various types of milk and foods specifically for this age group are mostly enriched with them.

As for doses, the contents of one 500-mg OMEGOR Vitality capsule (100 mg. of DHA) should be considered, in my opinion, as the minimum dose. In a flavored liquid formulation, VitaDHA liquid is a specific supplement to support the health of the infant and pregnant woman, as it has an ideal DHA:EPA ratio of 5.1. In the hope that I have been helpful, I wish you a good evening.
