Can increased uric acid depend on omega-3 supplements?

I have been taking omega-3 Vitaliy for some time. I have been found to have high uric acid levels. Can this be due to taking omega-3 since anchovies have high purine levels?

Dear Catia,

the increase in uric acid does not depend on omega-3 consumption; in fact, purines, although they are molecules present in high concentrations in many fish products, do not become part of fish oil. On the contrary, the polyunsaturated fatty acids of which it is composed may reduce joint inflammation that occurs due to the precipitation of uric acid crystals.

In this regard, I recommend that you read the article published on our blog.

He can, therefore, safely continue using Omegor Vitality, an omega-3-rich fish oil product obtained through a sophisticated purification process that minimizes the amount of contaminants in fish.

However, I advise her to follow an adequate diet, that is, low in protein and fat, and trying to reduce as much as possible the consumption of purine-rich foods such as some fish (sardines, anchovies and anchovies, precisely), and meat, especially offal, chicken, game and sausages.

Sincerely,
