Ask the Pharmacist

I would like to take a cholesterol-lowering supplement, what do you think? Which one do you recommend?

I had blood tests with the following results: total cholesterol 167; HDL cholesterol 44; triglycerides 262; blood sugar 114. I point out that I take medication for blood pressure control. To be precise: 1 Lobivon 5 mg and 1 Zantipride 30mg/12mg daily. I would like to take one of your supplements. What do you think and which one do you recommend? I stand by before proceeding with the purchase.

Dear Jerome,

The values you reported are quite positive. Scientific evidence has conclusively shown that 2 grams per day of Omega-3 EPA and DHA reduce the value of blood triglycerides by 20 to 40%.Therefore, I suggest that you take 3 capsules of Omegor Vitality of 1410 milligrams daily, which corresponds to 2.1 grams of EPA+DHA. Omegor Vitality is a very pure fish oil supplement with an EPA-DHA ratio of 2:1, the ideal proportion of the 2 Omega-3 fatty acids useful for:

  • Promote heart health by rebalancing HDL cholesterol and triglycerides;
  • reduce inflammation, which in some cases is subclinical and manifests itself through headaches, malaise, dry skin, digestive disorders, anxiety, depression, etc.

I remain available for further information.

Sincerely,

Dr. Rosaria Ramondino Pharmacist and Pharmaceutical Chemist
