Ask the Pharmacist

Type 2 diabetes and angina, which supplement is suitable?

Dear Debora,

in cases of type 2 diabetes, supplementation with right intake of omega-3 EPA and DHA (at least 1 gram per day) can be helpful in reducing the pro-inflammatory and pro-thrombotic state that characterizes this disease, as well as to promote peripheral circulation and to have a trophic effect at the level of the retina and central nervous system.

Regarding the positive effects of omega-3 in the development of diabetic disease, I invite you to read an article published on our blog. I recommend to your mother the consumption of 1 capsule per day of Meaquor, in close proximity to a main meal, is also advisable in cases of angina pectoris.

Each capsule of Meaquor contains as much as 900 mg of EPA and DHA, but of course this supplementation must be approved by the treating physician especially in case of drug therapies with anticoagulants. I therefore recommend that you and your doctor consider supplementing your mother's diet with Meaquor.

Sincerely,

Dr. Rosaria Ramondino Pharmacist and pharmaceutical chemist
