Which Omegor for my daughter who has eczema on her hands?
Hi, I would like to know which Omegor would be good for my daughter who has eczema on her hands, already ascertained that it is not contact eczema. She already had atopic dermatitis as a child. Thank you
Dear Michela,
I recommend Omegor TwinEFA, a supplement containing omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA from purified fish oil and omega-6 fatty acids GLA from borage oil, with anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory action. Atopic dermatitis (often also called eczema) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease.
There are many causes, genetic susceptibility, immunological dysfunction, epidermal barrier and environmental factors. Itching is the primary symptom; it is important to keep the skin hydrated and avoid environmental triggers such as foods (egg whites, fermented cheeses, strawberries, citrus fruits, chocolate tomatoes, shellfish, sausages, canned foods...), dust mites, hair, rough fabrics, sweat, cosmetic products (perfumes, inappropriate soaps), etc. Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is of fundamental importance to skin health.
Several studies have shown that its deficiency leads to hyperproliferation of the epidermis and increased dehydration, effects that are reversible by reintroducing GLA into the diet. In addition, the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA are associated with anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory (they regulate the immune response) activity and increase (particularly EPA) the GLA content of the skin, increasing the hydration of the epidermis.
The recommended dose of Omegor TwiEFA is 1 to 3 capsules daily before a main meal. In your daughter's case, I recommend 3 capsules daily for at least 3 consecutive months, which can be extended as needed and without side effects. I also recommend that you inform your daughter's treating physician so that he or she can assess the progress of the disease and the physiological benefits of the supplementation and based on these prolong or change the way the dietary supplement is taken.
Sincerely,
