Can Omegor Vitality be taken during pregnancy?
Good morning, can Omegor Vitality be taken for long periods even during pregnancy and with gastritis and hiatal hernia? Thank you
Dear Barbara,
Omegor Vitalitynon is the most suitable product in pregnancy as it contains mainly the omega-3 EPA, while during pregnancy supplementation with DHA is more suitable. The latter is the omega-3 with important structural functions in the membranes of neurons and retinal photoreceptors, thus essential for proper brain and visual development.
Supplementation with DHA is recommended both during the delicate period of pregnancy and during lactation; adequate DHA consumption by the mother is able to provide the fetus first, and later the newborn via breast milk, with sufficient amounts of this omega-3. DHA is important not only for the development of the baby but also for the health status of the mother.
During gestation the fetus draws from the mother's DHA reserves for its growth, and after pregnancy the mother's reserves of this molecule decrease dramatically increasing the risk of postpartum depression, and requiring 2 to 3 years to be restored. Among our supplements, I recommend VITADHA Materna, a pregnancy-specific product based on fish oil with a high concentration of DHA(250 mg per capsule) and Quatrefolic (5-MTHF glucosamine salt) the active form of folate that does not require to be metabolized within the body, and therefore fully absorbable by all women. Other Omegor products indicated during pregnancy and lactation are: VitaDHA1000 in 1000 mg fish oil soft capsules.
Each capsule provides 470 mg of DHA and 100 mg of EPA. The recommended dosage is 1-2 capsules per day near a meal. VitaDHA Liquid in single-dose vials of 6 g deodorized fish oil flavored with lemon. Each vial provides 1450 mg of DHA and 330 mg of EPA. The recommended dosage is 1 vial every other day. The oil can be taken as is or added to yogurt, drinks, and warm or cold foods.
In the presence of gastritis and hiatal hernia, the latter two products can be helpful in counteracting the inflammatory component typical of these conditions.
I remain available for further information.
Sincerely,
