Ask the Pharmacist

Is Omegor Vitality suitable for a 4-year-old?

Dear Omegor, I am asking for an opinion whether it is correct to give a 4-year-old child Omgeor Vitality 1 gram, a product that I have been using for years ...I am an old customer of yours. I have read that it is not appropriate to give children EPA as it inhibits arachidonic acid which is important for them to grow unlike us adults. Without having to spend more money on other products containing only DHA, I ask at what dosage can Omegor Vitality Plus 1g. pearls of omege3 be given. Thank you.

Dear Francis,

Omegor Vitality can also be taken by children, ages 3 and older. This supplement contains concentrated fish oil, which is rich in omega-3 in the form of triglycerides, the form best absorbed by the body. Each capsule of Omegor Vitality 1000 contains 420 milligrams of EPA and 210 milligrams of DHA, the fatty acid that helps maintain good vision and brain function, when taken daily in the amount of 250 mg.

Also Omegor Vitality contains natural vitamin E, which helps reduce oxidative stress and preserves the characteristics of the fish oil itself. For ease of administration and to avoid swallowing, I recommend that you pierce a capsule and give your child the liquid contents or choose the smaller 500 mg capsule format.

The recommended dose is 1 g daily (1 1000 mg capsule or 2 500 mg capsules) once a day.

Sincerely,
