Are there Omega-3 supplements in liquid form for depression and psychological disorders?

Hello, I would like to know if Omega-3 supplements are available in liquid or syrup form. I would also like to know if it is indicated for mild depression, moderate depression, and psychological disorders. Thank you for your attention.

Dear Alexander,

a diet deficient in omega-3 fatty acids has been associated in humans with an increased risk of developing disorders of mood, attention, thinking, and anxiety states.

Many scientific studies point to the positive effect of supplementation with Omega-3 fatty acids in these particular conditions. The mechanism of action by which Omega-3s act is related to the ability of EPA and DHA to regulate the production of neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and serotonin, and thereby promote mood balance, calmness and coordination. EPA also promotes modulation of the production of inflammatory prostaglandins that appear to be implicated in states of anxiety and depression. The product currently available in liquid form is VitaDHA, a high-DHA supplement available in convenient single-dose sachets.

This special packaging preserves the freshness of the oil over time, which is highly purified, deodorized and flavored with a pleasant lemon taste. Each sachet contains 1250 mg of DHA and 360 mg of EPA. This high dosage of DHA in the form of natural triglyceride, the most stable and digestible form, is particularly good for improving nerve transmission as well as the central production of neurotransmitters that affect a person's emotional state. DHA also promotes the reduction of that inflammation which in some cases is subclinical and manifests itself through disorders of various kinds:

  • headache
  • malaise
  • dry skin
  • disorders of the digestive system
  • anxiety
  • depression

The dosage is 1 sachet daily or 1 every other day. The oil can be taken alone or added to yogurt, white or citrus. To avoid any possible aftertaste, it is best to store the sachets in the freezer. Another product I can recommend is Omegor Twinefa: a supplement based on fish oil, rich in Omega-3, and borage oil, the source of Omega-6 GLA. The oil in the Twinefa pearls is deodorized and orange flavored, so it is very pleasant. You can puncture the pearls and take the oil individually or you can add it to yogurt, white or citrus. Several scientific studies have shown that the combination of Omega-3 and Omega-6 is particularly useful for:

  • Ensure proper skin trophism;
  • Play an effective anti-inflammatory action;
  • Balancing mood.

The dosage I recommend is 2-3 pearls per day of Omegor Twinefa, preferably taken with a main meal. I remain available for further information on this matter.

Sincerely.
