Ask the Pharmacist

Cardiac arrhythmia, can I take omega-3?

Good morning, can I take omega-3 even if I suffer from arrhythmia? or are there contraindications with the drugs? thanks

Dear Madam,

intake of omega-3 fatty acids is not contraindicated in cardiac arrhythmia, quite the contrary: it appears that omega-3 may have a stabilizing effect on arrhythmia.

Omega-3, valuable adjunct to therapies for arrhythmia

Indeed, omega-3s could act on the electrical impulses that cause the heart to contract, with an end effect that may result in a reduced risk of arrhythmia. It is possible, therefore, that with the support of omega-3s to therapy, the electrophysiological profile of ion channels found on the membrane of cardiac cells may change over time. If antiarrhythmic drugs are being taken at the same time, however, it is a good idea to have omega-3 supplementation approved by the treating physician.

Arrhythmia, recommend Omegor Krill or Omegor Vitality

In case of a positive opinion from the doctor, he could then supplement his diet with:

  • 2 capsules per day of Omegor Krill to be taken in the first part of the day-at breakfast or lunch.
  • Alternatively, 1 capsule per day of Omegor Vitality 1000 product at a meal-breakfast, lunch or dinner.

I remain available for further information.

Sincerely,
