Cholesterol - is there an alternative to statins?

Dear Doctor, I came to the Omegor site looking for an alternative to statins that I have been taking for a little over two years to keep my LDL cholesterol level under control. I am currently taking one tablet of Crestor 20 mg. per day, I would like to stop but would not want to expose myself to increased LDL levels. What do you recommend? I specify that I do not have overweight problems but I have had a breast oncological problem in the past treated with surgery, radio and chemo. Thank you for your attention. cordiality. Rosaria

Dear Rosaria,

to promote cholesterol control, I recommend that you check with your primary care physician about the possibility of replacing the drug Crestor 20 mg with the product Cardiol Forte.

Cardiol Forte is a dietary supplement containing:

  • omega-3 from fish oil
  • monacolin K (10 mg per capsule) - the natural statin from fermented red rice
  • Coenzyme Q10.

This formulation is recommended to promote moderate cholesterol control (moderate hypercholesterolemia-Total Cholesterol >240 mg/dL) because the presence of monacolin K at a dosage of 10 mg promotes the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels. Tolerability.

Cardiol Forte is useful whenever you want to act on excess cholesterol with a natural approach that is more easily tolerated than synthetic statins. In addition, the tolerability of Cardiol Forte is also optimized by the presence of a high dosage of Coenzyme Q10 per capsule (100 mg), which makes it possible to make up for the deficiency of endogenous Coenzyme Q10 that arises during treatment with statins or statin-like drugs.

The daily dose I recommend is one capsule per day of Cardiol Forte to be taken in the evening just before dinner. After a two-month supplementation period, it is a good idea to repeat routine tests to check its effectiveness. Find the product information sheet here, which you can also have your attending physician review to arrive with him or her at a more informed choice.

I recommend that you discuss and agree with your physician about starting supplementation with Cardiol Forte.

I remain available for further information.

Sincerely,
